The ENGAGE project builds on NYASA's extensive track record in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) approaches. From 2019 to 2024, NYASA successfully pioneered the 'Ending Child Marriages Through Empowerment' initiative, which actively engaged girls and young women to expand their access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services.
By deploying multi-sectoral strategies, the project combined legal reforms, grassroots community engagement, economic empowerment for 850 girls, and the delivery of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) across 43 schools. This holistic approach created a safe, supportive environment where adolescent boys and girls were equipped to make informed life and health decisions, free from violence and coercion.
Through these initiatives, NYASA has solidified deep-rooted, highly effective partnerships with traditional leaders, national opinion makers, and key government decision-makers.
Maintained active dialogue with national lawmakers and legal stakeholders to advocate for stricter enforcement of child marriage laws and protections for young women.
Partnered with traditional and national opinion leaders to challenge harmful cultural norms, shift public perceptions, and foster a community-wide protective environment for girls.
Collaborated with 43 local schools to integrate standard comprehensive sexuality education frameworks into their extracurricular and academic ecosystems.
